When you do a Google search for self defense classes, usually what pops up is an array of martial arts skills, from Tae Kwon Do to Krav Maga.

However, as we often demonstrate, traditional martial arts training is generally not effective in dealing with most street assaults.

Why?  Because in traditional martial arts, there are usually rules involved, and the training is often geared more toward sport application, or the training is done with compliant partners.

In a street situation, there are no rules.  It’s all about winning at all costs.

This is exactly what the military faces in combat.  That is why combatives training differs significantly from typical self defense and martial arts training.

Martial arts training tends to focus on techniques while combatives training focuses on principles.

Principles hold up better under stress than techniques.

The basic principles behind what we teach at The Self Defense Company are rooted in what was taught to our elite military commandos back in World War II.

With this in mind, I invite you to check out The DefendU system that was taught to U.S. and British commandos in WWII.

This is a special program that provides the core knowledge behind The Self Defense Company Training System.
