In the world of self defense and combatives, after the principle of hitting first, hitting hard is the most important principle for winning a street fight.
However, since most street fight and bar brawls begin with the combatants in relatively close quarters, 18 to 24 inches, it takes a good bit of skill to hit hard from that distance.
Remember, if you want to hit first, you can’t tip off your assailant by winding up to throw a big haymaker. You can’t telegraph that you are about to unleash the fury (and you are about to because you’ve recognized that they are about to hit you).
With that in mind, I’ve put together a short video to show you how to generate power in your strikes by drawing energy from the ground. This was a technique I learned and practiced for years while studying Pai Lum.
