Hi, I’m Scott Cole. I created Tactical Self Defense Training (TSDT) out of what I feel is a growing need for normal people to learn and develop self defense skills.
Like many people my age growing up, I developed an interest in the martial arts by watching TV, particularly Kung Fu Theater! However, it wasn’t until I had children that I finally decided to train seriously.
I found a reputable Kung Fu school in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where I spent most of my life. I eventually attained the rank of black belt after seven years of training, and I continued for another year afterward.
At that time, I moved on to pursue other interests, particularly as a golf instructor, since I had played competitively for years.
However, training in self defense and martial arts always remained important to me. Recently, I became more interested in studying combatives, which led me to The Self Defense Company (SDC).
I signed on to the SDC instructor program as I was very impressed with their information and overall approach to reality based self defense and combatives training. Training within this program is continuous, and I am currently a Level 3 instructor.
I am also expanding my knowledge by studying the work of other notable self defense experts such as Lee Morrison of Urban Combatives.
I originally created TSDT to offer local training here in Rockville, Maryland. However, due to time constraints, I am presently unable to offer in person instruction.
With that said, I highly recommend that you visit The Self Defense Company website to check out their online training options. I’ve been associated with them for two years now and find they offer the best online training available.
